Amanda Petrusich, in her article “The Lofty
Optimism of Spotify and the Influence of the Streaming Revolution”, argue that
Spotify is going public which she does not agree it should. First, in the first
paragraph she says, “I’m restless and don’t like always being tethered to the
internet”. Which is telling us why she does not agree with Spotify going
public. She is saying that she does not like to be tied up to the internet all
the time. Next, in the second paragraph she says, “I might start scampering around
on YouTube, but mostly, I prefer keeping the whole routine off-line”. That
implies she does not like being on the internet to listen to music. Although
she might get on it every once in a while, she does not like to get on it often
as a routine. Finally, in paragraph five she says, “It’s far too big to feel
like anything other than an anonymous platform its library already seems
terrifyingly boundless and is only growing”. Meaning that Spotify has too many
songs to get connected to one individual song emotionally. There is a lot of
albums that you can’t stick to the one you want to listen too.

Now I can
agree with her when she says that Spotify has too many albums that you can’t
stick to one song. It’s like you can chose one song you wan to listen to but
then it can play other songs that you don’t want to listen too. Also, I disagree
with her that she does not want to spend time on social media or that she wants
Spotify to go public. Personally, because I use Spotify to listen to my music
just like a use YouTube and social media to listen to music. The very first
piece of music I actually owned was a CD, that was popular when I was growing
up. The CD I owned was of Hanna Montana which I was obsessed with her even had
posters of her everything was her. I guess you can say she was very popular
when I was growing up because everyone and all of my friends would talk about
her. What my parents would use to listen to music was cassettes and I would
listen to them because they would play them. That was what it was popular on their
time and what I would listen to when I was little and growing up. But the
actual first piece of music I owned like I said was a Hanna Montana CD I loved all
her songs, but I can admit there were a few I was obsessed with. From their it
was an iPod that I owned when I was growing up too, which was a gift from my
mom to my sister and me. Which I used social media to listen to music and I used
Spotify to listen to music too, and not till this day I use Spotify and other
social media to listen to music. Here is a song i rally liked back then when i was
little it was one from a few a liked the most.
